Katamino Family is the family-oriented version of Gigamic’s iconic puzzle game. It keeps the core idea of the original Katamino fitting geometric wooden pieces into a defined space, but introduces a structure designed for cooperative or parallel play between children and adults.
Like the original, the game uses wooden pieces of various shapes and sizes, placed on a wooden board divided by an adjustable slider. The Family edition, however, includes two sets of pieces and specially curated challenges. This allows players to solve puzzles independently, side by side, or to work together on a shared task.
The challenge booklet offers levels for different ages and skill ranges. Younger players can start with simpler setups to build confidence, while more experienced puzzle lovers can tackle the harder configurations. As with the original Katamino, progression leads to increasingly demanding puzzles, some solved instantly and others only after a well-deserved break.
The greatest strength of Katamino Family lies in its adaptability. It encourages children to develop spatial reasoning, persistence and logical thinking, while adults enjoy a puzzle that remains engaging without overwhelming complexity. Everyone plays at their own pace, yet the experience is shared.
