The board game 5er Finden is a so-called roll-and-write type of game. In this game, each player receives a board with a 10x10 grid of 6 different colored squares. There are 12 polyominoes placed in the center of the table; these represent the 12 different possible shapes that can be made with 5 squares. They are valued from 1 to 4 points. In each of the game's five rounds, someone rolls 5 dice. A re-roll must happen if you get 3 of the same symbols on the dice.
Once a valid roll occurs, all players begin to examine their board for so-called "fives"—a polyomino shape made of exactly five blocks that precisely matches the dice roll. Whenever any player feels they are done, they take the timer from the center of the table, flip it over, and place it in front of their board. That player is no longer allowed to make changes to their board. When the sand runs out, that player calls the end of the round, and everyone else must stop writing immediately, and the round moves into the scoring phase. During scoring, you evaluate the value of your valid five-shapes.
The game continues through the next five rounds. The only small difference in the fifth round is that all shapes are worth double their normal value. The player with the most points wins!
